What Happens When The Kidneys Fail?
November 10th 2011 05:17
Our kidneys are two of the most important organs of the body. They clean the body's blood by filtering out extra and dirty wastes from the body. When a person eats foods rich in fat and salt, these harmful substances are then filtered by the kidneys and thus when they are damaged, it causes many health problems. Kidneys also make the needed hormones by the body to keep our bones and blood healthy.

If both of the kidneys fail, our body holds the fluid and the body's blood pressure rises. the harmful waste that the body intake build up inside. The body then doesn't make enough red blood cells anymore and results to some conditions such as loss of appetite, fatigue and nausea. Damaged kidneys though can still be replaced. After they are replaced, the new kidneys then do the functions and saves the life of their new host.
Damage kidneys becomes less efficient in filtering waste products from the blood. When this happens, the waste products in the body stays and starts to build up in the bloodstream. This is the reason why for acute kidney failures, dialysis is very important in order to cleanse the blood of the waste. Dialysis though can be very expensive and have to be done at least once
a week.
Similarly, when the kidney stops producing hormones, the bone marrow becomes less efficient in producing healthy red cells which results to anemia. Anemia is a health condition where in the body does not supply enough oxygen to the body. This results to weakness, tiredness and shortness of breath.
Once a person is diagnosed with a kidney problem, he or she will undergo some regular blood tests. In early cases, treatment of drugs maybe needed. In some cases, drugs are taken in order to lower the body's blood pressure which is a direct result when blood waste filtering becomes difficult.
