Move It!

We are constantly being bombarded by the advice to exercise. Yet finding time is increasingly difficult in our busy modern world. Just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day can help maintain a healthy weight, prevent chronic disease, and boost mood.
A new community survey conducted by Kansas State University reports that active commuting (walking or biking to work or school) is a simple way to incorporate exercise into everyone’s daily routine. Survey respondents reported that constraints on ‘active commuting’ were perceived lack of bike racks, showers, and office culture. The researchers’ suggest that physical activity opportunities, such as increased side-walks and bike lanes need to be incorporated into community design to promote more activity in the future.
So the next time you are feeling guilty about not exercising, dust off that bike, put on your helmet and bike to work! It’s good for you and the planet.
