Hiking the Metro Parks in Akron

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy
One of my favorite things to do is go hiking with my wife and four month old son. We like to go to the awesome metro parks in Akron, Ohio. We have around ten different ones to choose from and each has multiple trails available. With the fall season coming we are expecting to make daily trips to the different parks. It gives my wife a break from work and me a breather from daily duties as a stay at home dad.
Before we head to the park for our hiking adventure we always make sure the baby bag is packed with extra diapers and bottles because you never know what could happen. We take either the stroller or the front carrier for our son depending on the roughness the terrain. We throw everything in the car, make sure we didn't leave anything plugged in, set our ultimate home security alarm, and get on our way.
We usually spend about an hour hiking along the trail enjoying all the birds and chipmunks. The trails are well marked so it's almost impossible to get lost, even for a guy like me who has no sense of direction. We usually only have one hour to spare on an outing but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks because we might actually have extra time for a picnic in the middle of our hike. The little outdoor adventures provide the perfect time for us to spend as a family.
