Parents may think that snoring in children is just a normal condition. They usually think that the child experiences it because of over fatigue as the child has been going around or playing almost the whole day or it may be an indication of an already existing health condition.
There are many reasons why children snore. These may be caused by a lot of factors such as peer stress or school related stress. Others may be because of a strenuous activity during the day and that they just need enough rest and a good night sleep. This kind of snore though is just temporary. Some snores which are long term may be caused by some more serious reasons such as health related factors.
When you notice that your child have been snoring for a longer time, it is best to have him checked by a professional doctor. The condition may just be a normal one, however, there might be a possibility that your child will suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnew Syndrom (OSAD) . This condition can be life-threatening as there is not enough air passing through the air passageway. The air supply they are getting may not be enough.
The symptoms of sleep apnea in children include loud snore while sleeping, gasping for air and waking-up in order to breath for air. It is usually difficult to wake them up. They then become sleepy during the day and falls asleep at times. They usually become exhausted even early in the morning and usually feels tired. Because of these, they then are not able to function properly during the day so they get irritable when they can’t accomplish the tasks they were supposed to do during the day.
